The following are some of the key achievements of RUSA Maharashtra:

  • Achievements under RUSA 1.0

Research & Innovation

  • Six hubs set up in State Universities for commercialization or technology transfer to industry and incubate research projects that hold promise for scale-up, open to all under graduate and Post Graduate students of Maharashtra.

The Six Hubs are thematically provisioned as:

  • The Centre for Intelligent Systems at the SavitribaiPhule Pune University.
  • The Centre for Advanced Sensors at the Doctor Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University Aurangabad.
  • The Center for Food Product Development at the SNDT Women's University Mumbai.
  • The Centre for Bio-Actives & Natural Products at the Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University.
  • The Centre for Renewable Resources for Health Care at the Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University Nanded.
  • The Centre for Natural Products and Alternative Medicine, Shivaji University Kolhapur.
  • Fifteen projects across multiple disciplines are funded.
  • 18 Patents have been filed.
  • As an outcome of these research projects, there have been 5 successful technology transfers and 2 more are in the process. The details of few of these projects are as given below:

Capacity Building in Research 
  • 150 faculty members have been oriented on writing successful research proposals in the field of technology, science, and social science.
  • Trained 75 Master trainers in the field of IPR.
  • Trained 2600 researchers in the field of IPR.
  • Active IPR Cells Patent & IPR cells have been established in 7 universities.

Curriculum Reform:

  • Six verticals were identified. Academician and Industry experts developed niche relevant courses as electives (or as a certification course) under the choice-based credit system (CBCS).
  • Cyber Security.
  • Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance.
  • Geo-informatics/Geographical Information System (GIS).
  • Product Design Engineering.
  • Health & Wellness.
  • Pharmacy Education.
  • Six Pilot Faculty Development Programs have been organized by RUSA, Maharashtra in collaboration with HRDC, Mumbai University.

Equity Initiative

  • Four Resource Centres for Inclusive Education established at:
  • Shivaji University.
  • NMU, Jalgaon.
  • Shivaji College of Arts,  Science and Commerce, Akola.
  • Xavier Resource Centre for the Visually Challenged(XRCVC).

Governance

  • RUSA app developed for geotagging all the existing institutions.
  • 10 State Universities and 5 State Govt. Colleges registered on Public Financial Management System (PFMS).
  • The assets Mapping of 15 Institutions on BHUVAN RUSA app.

RUSA 2.0 Achievements

  • One Day Seminar for Administrative Staff of Universities in the state of Maharashtra was conducted in March 2019
  • 75 Registrar/Deputy Registrar/Assistant Registrars attended this Seminar
  • Secretary, Dept. of Higher and Technical Education and State Project Director, RUSA guided participants
  • Participants were appraised on statutes of Autonomy published by state and Central Government
  • 3 Resource Centre for Inclusive education was established in Maharashtra and Upgraded the Xavier’s Resource Centre for the Visually Challenged (XRCV) at St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai

  • Sanctioned 2 New Model Degree Colleges (NMDC) in the aspirational districts of Washim & Nandurbar under RUSA 2.0
  • Till date, more than 27 lakh students have been benefitted with the infrastructure, research, library, digital classroom facilities developed in the 11 State Public Universities & 5 Government Colleges
  • Oral examination systems and adaptive question systems were created for students with autism.
